Postdoctoral Research Opportunities in Molecular Pharmacology (f/m/d)
The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) is a prominent research institution within the 'Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. (FVB)', which comprises seven research institutes in the natural sciences, supported by the Federal Republic of Germany and its federal states. Located in Berlin, the FMP is a non-university research facility dedicated to advancing basic research in molecular pharmacology. It offers a dynamic and collaborative environment equipped with cutting-edge facilities, attracting researchers from around the globe.
We are seeking several postdoctoral researchers, funded in part by the ERC, to become integral members of the 'Integrated Structural Dynamics' group, directed by Dr. Sigrid Milles. The successful candidates will investigate the roles of intrinsically disordered proteins in clathrin-mediated endocytosis and their interactions with various components of the endocytic machinery. These positions are initially limited to 2 years but may be extended based on performance.
The Milles lab utilizes and enhances integrated single-molecule fluorescence and NMR spectroscopy techniques to explore intrinsically disordered proteins, aiming to elucidate the conformational dynamics that govern the early stages of clathrin-mediated endocytosis, a critical pathway for molecular import into eukaryotic cells. The group is particularly focused on deciphering and characterizing the interactions involved, relating their properties to liquid-liquid phase separation and cellular function.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for highly motivated, ambitious, and talented young scientists to join an enthusiastic and collaborative team in an exceptional scientific environment. Ideal candidates should possess a PhD in biophysics or biochemistry, with a robust background in NMR or (single molecule) fluorescence spectroscopy, and a keen interest in interdisciplinary research on protein dynamics. Candidates with expertise in cell biology or fluorescence imaging (microscopy) are also encouraged to submit their applications.
