Position Overview: As a Game Development Engineer at ROCKFISH Games, you will play a crucial role in crafting high-performance code using C++ and Unreal Blueprints to enhance our space-themed gaming experience. Collaborating closely with a talented team of developers and designers, your contributions will be vital in ensuring optimal game performance and player satisfaction.

Technical Expertise: In addition to your programming skills, familiarity with profiling tools to enhance CPU performance, asset management, and frame rates will be highly beneficial. This expertise will support our goal of delivering a seamless and engaging gameplay experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing high-quality code in C++ and Unreal Blueprints
  • Collaborating with the development team to ensure optimal gameplay performance
  • Utilizing profiling tools to enhance CPU efficiency, asset management, and frame rates
  • Keeping abreast of the latest advancements and methodologies in game development
  • Adapting our games for various current and future platforms, including consoles and diverse operating systems
  • Engaging with platform stakeholders regarding feature specifications, technical hurdles, and release planning
  • Contributing significantly to the success of our space-themed gaming project
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine 4
  • Strong command of Unreal Engine 4 Blueprints visual scripting
  • Solid foundation in C++ and debugging within a game development context
  • Experience with Linux and Mac OS environments
  • Familiarity with game development tools and methodologies
  • Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, and optimization capabilities
  • A collaborative mindset, self-motivated, and eager to learn
  • Willingness to work with existing codebases to enhance gameplay
  • A deep passion for sci-fi shooter games and related media
  • Proficient English language skills for effective communication in team settings and understanding project documentation
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in console programming
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5
  • Proficiency in German is advantageous
