Senior Manager (F/M/D) Electrical Engineering

Job Summary

You will oversee multiple specialized teams focused on engineering, controls, and technical asset management.

Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Direct and manage the team to ensure optimal performance of the Data Centers.
  • Inspire and develop team members, driving results effectively.

Technical Support

  • Analyze technical challenges and provide comprehensive root cause analysis.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to mitigate future issues.

System Support

  • Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues by investigating, identifying causes, and implementing necessary fixes.

Facilities Management

  • Approve recommendations and pricing from local suppliers while maintaining service records to ensure proper maintenance of data center infrastructure.

Budgeting

  • Review and endorse proposals for enhancements to data center infrastructure.

Reporting

  • Assess routine status reports regarding data center performance.

Standards

  • Accountable for adherence to and evolution of global standards.

Qualifications

  • A background in Electrical Engineering with significant experience in a similar role within a data center operations environment.
  • Proven leadership capabilities showcasing a collaborative and consultative approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of German regulations such as VDE.
  • Strong understanding of all engineering disciplines within a data center operations team.
  • Experience in the design, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of complex electrical power distribution systems in a data center setting.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Diploma with demonstrated experience in Operational Engineering applications.
  • Expert-level knowledge of systems including HV/MV Substation, Standby Generator, switchboards, UPS & batteries, Static Transfer Switch, power quality, protection study, and fault level analysis.
  • Familiarity with firmware and settings for UPS, STS, and Generator, as well as electrical switching procedures.
  • Extensive operational knowledge of engineering systems, including advanced diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and industry standards to resolve complex issues.
  • Commitment to safe working practices at an expert level.
  • Collaborate with other engineering, design, and construction disciplines.
  • Work with capacity and site engineering teams to address power and cooling limitations and optimize resource utilization.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects or other design and engineering initiatives.
