Position Overview
As a Senior Manager in Electrical Engineering, you will oversee multiple specialized teams focused on engineering, controls, and technical asset management.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Direct and manage the team to ensure optimal operational performance of the Data Centers.
- Inspire and develop team members while driving results.
Technical Oversight
- Analyze technical challenges and provide comprehensive root cause analysis.
- Formulate and execute strategies to mitigate future complications.
System Management
- Oversee the diagnosis and resolution of intricate issues by investigating the problem, identifying the cause, and implementing necessary solutions.
Facilities Oversight
- Evaluate and approve recommendations and pricing from local suppliers while maintaining service records to ensure proper maintenance of data center infrastructure.
Financial Management
- Review and endorse proposals for enhancements to data center infrastructure.
Reporting and Standards
- Assess routine status reports regarding data center performance.
- Ensure accountability and responsibility for compliance with global standards.
Required Qualifications
- A background in Electrical Engineering with substantial experience in a similar capacity within a data center operations context.
- Proven leadership capabilities demonstrating a collaborative and consultative approach.
- In-depth knowledge of German regulations such as VDE.
- Strong comprehension of all engineering disciplines within a data center operations team.
- Experience in the design, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of complex electrical power distribution systems in a data center setting.
- A Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Diploma coupled with demonstrated experience in Operational Engineering applications.
- Expert-level knowledge of systems including HV/MV Substation, Standby Generator, switchboards, UPS & batteries, Static Transfer Switch, power quality, protection studies, and fault level analysis.
- Familiarity with firmware and settings for UPS, STS, and Generators, as well as electrical switching procedures.
- Proficient operating knowledge of engineering systems, including advanced diagnostics and repairs.
- Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and industry standards to resolve complex issues.
- Commitment to safe working practices at an expert level.
- Collaborate with other engineering, design, and construction disciplines.
- Work alongside capacity and site engineering teams to address power and cooling limitations and optimize resource utilization.
- Lead and manage multiple projects or other design and engineering initiatives.
