Senior Manager (F/M/D) Electrical Engineering
Job Overview
You will oversee multiple specialized teams focusing on engineering, controls, and technical asset management.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Direct and guide the team to ensure peak performance of the Data Centers.
- Inspire and develop team members, driving impactful results.
Technical Guidance
- Analyze technical challenges and deliver root cause evaluations.
- Formulate and execute strategies to mitigate future complications.
System Oversight
- Supervise the diagnosis and resolution of intricate issues by investigating the problem, identifying the source, and implementing necessary solutions.
Facilities Oversight
- Endorse recommendations and pricing with local vendors, maintaining service records to ensure the proper upkeep of data center infrastructure.
Financial Management
- Evaluate and approve proposals for enhancements to data center infrastructure.
Reporting Duties
- Review regular status updates regarding data center performance.
Compliance and Standards
- Accountable for adherence to and development of global standards.
Required Qualifications
- A background in Electrical Engineering with substantial experience in a similar capacity within a data center operations setting.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a collaborative and consultative approach.
- In-depth knowledge of German regulations such as VDE, among others.
- Strong comprehension of all engineering disciplines within a data center operations team.
- Experience in the design, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of complex electrical power distribution systems in a data center context.
- A Bachelor's Degree or an Associates/Advanced Diploma with proven experience in Operational Engineering applications.
- Expert-level knowledge of systems (HV/MV Substation, Standby Generator, switchboards, UPS & batteries, Static Transfer Switch, power quality, protection study, fault level analysis).
- Familiarity with firmware and settings for UPS, STS, and Generator, as well as electrical switching protocols.
- Advanced operational knowledge of engineering systems, including diagnostics and repairs.
- Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and industry standards to resolve complex issues.
- Commitment to safe working practices at an expert level.
- Collaborate with other engineering, design, and construction disciplines.
- Work alongside capacity and site engineering teams to address power and/or cooling constraints and optimize resource utilization.
- Lead and manage multiple projects or other design and engineering initiatives.
