Senior Manager (F/M/D) Electrical Engineering
Job Summary
You will oversee multiple specialized teams focused on engineering, controls, and technical asset management.
Responsibilities
Team Management
- Direct and manage the team to ensure optimal performance of the Data Centers.
- Cultivate and inspire team members, driving results.
Technical Support
- Analyze technical challenges and provide root cause analysis.
- Formulate and implement strategies to mitigate future issues.
System Support
- Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues by investigating, identifying causes, and implementing necessary fixes.
Facilities Management
- Approve recommendations and pricing with local suppliers, maintaining service records to ensure proper maintenance of data center infrastructure.
Budgeting
- Review and endorse proposals for enhancements to data center infrastructure.
Reporting
- Assess routine status reports on data center performance.
Standards
- Accountable for adherence to and evolution of global standards.
Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering background with substantial experience in a similar role within a data center operations environment.
- Proven leadership capabilities demonstrating a collaborative and consultative approach.
- Comprehensive knowledge of German regulations such as VDE.
- Strong understanding of all engineering disciplines within a data center operations team.
- Experience in design, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of complex electrical power distribution systems in a Data Centre setting.
- Bachelor's Degree or Associates/Advanced Diploma with demonstrated experience in Operational Engineering applications.
- Expert-level knowledge of systems (HV/MV Substation, Standby Generator, switchboards, UPS & batteries, Static Transfer Switch, power quality, protection study, fault level analysis).
- Familiarity with firmware and settings for UPS, STS, and Generator, as well as electrical switching procedures.
- Expert operating knowledge of engineering systems, including advanced diagnostics and repairs.
- Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and industry standards to resolve non-routine issues.
- Utilizes safe working practices at an expert level.
- Collaborates with other engineering, design, and construction disciplines.
- Works with capacity and site engineering teams to address power and/or cooling limitations and optimize resource utilization.
- Leads and manages multiple projects or other design and engineering initiatives.
