Position Overview

The Department of Applied Microbial Ecology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher (f/m/x) passionate about soil microbial ecology. This role is integral to the Environmental Antimicrobial Resistance Group, directed by Dr. Anja Worrich. The research will focus on the impact of antibiotics in soil environments on plant-microbe interactions and the implications for plant health. We welcome candidates eager to bring their innovative ideas to this research initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the effects of antibiotics on the interactions between plants and microbes, determining whether these effects are beneficial or harmful.
  • Investigate the implications of these interactions for plant health and productivity.
  • Design and implement methodologies to address research inquiries, including SIP workflows, chemical imaging, and omics techniques.
  • Generate concepts for new research initiatives and assist in drafting grant proposals.
  • Mentor PhD candidates and technicians within the research group.
  • Collaborate on projects with colleagues from partner institutions.

Candidate Profile

  • A PhD in biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in soil microbiology and plant-microbe interactions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using R or similar programming languages.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in supervising students or junior team members.
