Position Overview

The Department of Applied Microbial Ecology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher (f/m/x) with a keen interest in the dynamics of soil microbial communities. This role is integral to the Environmental Antimicrobial Resistance Group, under the guidance of Dr. Anja Worrich. The research will focus on the effects of antibiotic presence in soil on the relationships between plants and microbes, as well as the implications for plant health. We encourage candidates to bring their innovative ideas to the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the influence of antibiotics on plant-microbe interactions, determining whether these effects are beneficial or harmful.
  • Investigate the repercussions for plant health and productivity.
  • Design and implement methodologies to address the research inquiries, utilizing techniques such as SIP workflows, chemical imaging, and omics.
  • Propose new research initiatives and assist in the preparation of grant proposals.
  • Mentor PhD candidates and technical staff within the research group.
  • Collaborate on research projects with colleagues from partner institutions.

Candidate Profile

  • A PhD in biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in soil microbiology and plant-microbe interactions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using R or similar programming languages.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in mentoring students or junior team members.
