Position Overview

The Department of Applied Microbial Ecology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher (f/m/x) who possesses a keen interest in the field of soil microbial ecology. This role is integral to the Environmental Antimicrobial Resistance Group, which is directed by Dr. Anja Worrich. The successful candidate will explore the effects of antibiotics present in soil on the relationships between plants and microbes, as well as the implications for plant health. We encourage applicants who are eager to contribute innovative ideas to the research initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate the influence of antibiotics on plant-microbe interactions, determining whether these effects are beneficial or harmful.
  • Assess the implications for plant health and productivity.
  • Design and implement methodologies suitable for addressing the research questions, including SIP-workflows, chemical imaging, and omics techniques.
  • Formulate proposals for new research initiatives and assist in the preparation of grant applications.
  • Mentor PhD candidates and technical staff within the research group.
  • Collaborate on projects with colleagues from partner institutions.

Candidate Profile

  • A PhD in biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in soil microbiology and plant-microbe interactions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using R or similar software.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in supervising students or junior team members.
