Research Group: HORTSYS - Controlled Environment Horticultural Systems
Our HORTSYS research group develops innovative model-sensor based decision support tools for optimizing resource use in protected cultivation. We specialize in model-based monitoring using systems modeling and sensor technology to achieve resource-efficient production.
The Opportunity: PhD Researcher in Model-Based Climate Monitoring and ControlWe are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join our team and contribute to the advancement of climate control strategies in greenhouse horticulture. This exciting research position will focus on developing and implementing model-based approaches for optimizing resource use and enhancing crop productivity in controlled environments.
Responsibilities:- Conduct plant physiological experiments in climate chambers and greenhouses.
- Develop and apply mathematical models to simulate greenhouse climate dynamics and crop growth.
- Integrate sensor data with models to improve monitoring and control strategies.
- Analyze experimental data and contribute to scientific publications.
- Collaborate with researchers and industry partners on research projects.
- Master's degree in agricultural science, plant science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in plant physiology, greenhouse horticulture, and/or modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
