Position Overview: Energy Test Engineer – Contract Opportunity

Compensation: EUR 40 per hour

Work Arrangement: Onsite in Munich

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Role Summary:

As an Energy Test Engineer, you will be the primary contact for all battery testing activities, overseeing the entire testing process from requirement analysis and concept design to execution and data evaluation. Your focus will be on the qualification and verification of aircraft components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with multi mega-watt battery systems
  • Coordinate test planning and align with stakeholders
  • Establish and configure laboratories and testing equipment
  • Collaborate closely with integration engineers, particularly in battery development
  • Analyze test data and interpret results effectively
  • Plan, set up, and maintain testing facilities and equipment
  • Design and operate test benches for evaluating electrical, electro-chemical, and electro-mechanical components, including abuse testing
  • Assess components for electrical and thermal performance, mechanical integrity, abuse resistance, crashworthiness, and environmental resilience
  • Coordinate, prepare, and conduct tests on battery cells, modules, and packs, as well as electrical components, adhering to relevant standards
  • Provide critical insights and feedback to stakeholders regarding design modifications, process improvements, and software corrections
  • Assist in production planning and end-of-line testing setups
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks or projects as assigned by management
  • Work with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and testing software
  • Conduct post-mortem analyses and generate comprehensive reports

Qualifications:

  • MSc, PhD, or equivalent in electrical, power, or mechatronics engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proficient in operating electrical laboratories and applying best testing practices
  • Experience with battery systems is essential
  • Familiarity with BMS functions, CAN systems, and general testing software
  • Hands-on experience with battery testing equipment, including high power supplies, data acquisition systems, and battery test systems
  • Experienced in using battery module and system testing tools (e.g., AVL, Kratzer, Basytec)
  • EFK +AuS certification or equivalent experience with high-voltage systems is advantageous
  • In-depth knowledge of battery systems, particularly lithium-ion technology
  • Experience in the automotive or aerospace sectors is a plus
  • Strong motivation to establish effective structures and processes
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with a target-oriented work approach
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in German or other languages is a plus
