This is a remarkable opportunity to take a pivotal role as a system designer within SumUp. The Design System serves as the cornerstone for providing a cohesive experience for our Merchants across all of SumUp's exceptional products and services. By becoming a member of our newly established Design System Team, you will assist our entire organization in crafting outstanding merchant and customer experiences. You will be part of a centralized design team that shapes the overall aesthetic of SumUp's offerings and ensures design excellence across all aspects of the user interface, including illustrations, motion graphics, UX content, and best practices for accessibility.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Shaping the vision for SumUp's Design System, enhancing and expanding the existing component library to elevate it for both mobile and web platforms.
  • Implementing UI components and UX patterns with meticulous attention to detail, considering various use cases and integrating OS developments and trends.
  • Actively collaborating with designers across the organization to gather feedback and optimize the experience across diverse touchpoints and platforms.
  • Assisting multi-disciplinary teams during the implementation of the design system.
  • Promoting the adoption of the Design System within the chapter and maintaining comprehensive documentation to facilitate its integration.

You will collaborate with:

  • Senior design leaders to refine the visual and interactive aspects of the experience, utilizing your comprehensive skills in interaction, visual design, and prototyping to encapsulate the direction in a system of reusable UI components and interaction patterns.
  • Brand specialists for icon and illustration assets.
  • Motion and content experts to develop enriched guidelines that enhance quality and consistency in our user experience.
  • Design system engineers to implement the Design System in a scalable manner, ensuring our commitment to accessibility.

Your Profile:

  • You possess over 5 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer, with profound knowledge of visual principles, systems design, and substantial experience in UX, as evidenced by your portfolio or case studies.
  • You have designed and executed top-tier design components and UX patterns, committed to maintaining the highest standards and a unified vision.
  • You have demonstrated your ability to advocate for UI consistency among designers, engineers, product managers, and executives through effective writing, visuals, and presentations.
  • You are a strong collaborator, adept at negotiating scalable and user-friendly solutions, balancing communication, persuasion, and negotiation effectively.
  • You communicate decisions and directions clearly to various stakeholders.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to shifting priorities and needs.
  • You hold a BA or MA in Design or related fields, or possess equivalent studies and extensive experience in product design.
