This is an exceptional opportunity to take the lead as a system designer for SumUp. The Design System serves as the cornerstone for providing a cohesive experience for our Merchants across all of SumUp's premium products and services. By becoming a part of our newly established Design System Team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall merchant and customer experiences. You will be integrated into a centralized design team that shapes the visual identity of SumUp and guarantees design excellence across all aspects of the user interface, including illustrations, motion design, UX content, and accessibility standards.
In this position, you will:
- Steer the vision for SumUp's Design System, expanding and refining the existing component library to elevate it for both mobile and web applications.
- Implement UI components and UX patterns with meticulous attention to detail, considering various use cases and integrating operating system advancements and trends.
- Actively collaborate with designers throughout the organization to gather feedback and enhance the experience across diverse touchpoints and platforms.
- Assist multi-disciplinary teams during the implementation of the design system.
- Promote the utilization of the Design System within the chapter and maintain comprehensive documentation to support its adoption.
You will collaborate with:
- Senior design leaders to refine the visual identity of the experience, employing your complete set of interaction, visual, and prototyping skills to encapsulate the direction in a system of reusable UI components and interaction patterns.
- Brand specialists for icon and illustration assets.
- Motion and content experts to develop enriched guidelines that ensure quality and consistency in our experiences.
- Design system engineers to implement the Design System in a scalable manner, reflecting our commitment to accessibility.
Your Profile:
- You possess over 5 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer, with profound knowledge of visual principles, systems design, and substantial experience in UX, as evidenced by your portfolio or case studies.
- You have successfully designed and implemented top-tier design components and UX patterns, committed to maintaining the highest standards and a unified vision.
- You have demonstrated your capability as a strong advocate for UI consistency, collaborating with designers, engineers, product managers, and executives through written communication, visuals, and presentations.
- You are an effective collaborator, working with teams to negotiate scalable and user-friendly solutions, balancing communication, persuasion, and negotiation.
- You convey decisions and directions clearly to various stakeholders.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to shifting priorities and requirements.
- You hold a BA or MA in Design or related fields, or possess equivalent studies and extensive experience in product design.
