Inventory Control Director

Overview: The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing logistical operations within the program. This role includes managing inventory control and ensuring the proper management of government assets. The Logistics Manager plays a critical role in maintaining asset visibility and readiness for re-issue to various units.
Reporting Structure: This position supervises a team that includes Supply Supervisors, Logistics Management Analysts, Accountability Analysts, Supply Technician Leads, Supply Technicians, Warehouse Workers, Laborers, Movement Control Drivers, Material Coordinators, and Production Control Clerks.
Key Responsibilities: To excel in this role, the individual must effectively perform the following duties:
- Generate comprehensive reports utilizing the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A).
- Conduct research and process receipts, inventory adjustments, and equipment receipts while creating Material Release Orders (MROs).
- Analyze data to provide actionable recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and metrics, completing all tasks to satisfaction.
- Manage resources effectively to fulfill mission objectives.
- Enforce adherence to technical guidelines and management protocols.
- Initiate actions to address new workloads or rectify identified deficiencies.
- Process Inventory Adjustment Reports (IARs) accurately for review and approval.
- Draft and comprehend both External and Internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Guarantee 100% accountability of all assigned equipment, ensuring accurate reflection in the Logistics Information System (LIS).
- Conduct item research within GCSS-A and other LIS, including addressing frustrated items.
- Correct discrepancies in documentation and LIS data, promptly reporting issues to the Supply Manager.
- Ensure all personnel are informed and compliant with company and government policies.
- Engage professionally with senior management in strategic planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate with supply personnel to achieve operational goals.
- Provide timely and relevant information to the Supply Manager and government representatives as necessary.
- Develop and maintain departmental metrics that accurately reflect performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience: The following qualifications are essential for this role:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity, with a strong understanding of military regulations and procedures.
- Prior military supply experience is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate effectively, resolve issues, and recommend improvements in service delivery.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills for conducting meetings and preparing reports.
- Computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Formal training in GCSS-A or equivalent military training is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.
- Must meet security and access requirements.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for facility access.
Specialized Skills:
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong knowledge of logistics and maintenance operations.
- Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Ability to work efficiently up to a 48-hour work week, including potential overtime.
- Must be able to work in a typical office environment, maintaining mental alertness and organizational skills.
