ROLE OVERVIEWThe Transparency International Secretariat is in search of an innovative, resourceful, and opportunity-focused Head of Communications (m/f/d) to spearhead TI's global communications efforts, significantly enhancing TI's visibility and brand on an international scale.
The Head of Communications will strategize, guide, and supervise the communications framework, providing visionary leadership to the Communications Team. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective, efficient, and timely achievement of results that align with the organization’s objectives and TI's Global Strategy, Holding Power to Account. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and skilled team of communication experts, tasked with building on existing successes to maintain the impact of communications in fulfilling our strategic goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Communications will:
- Design, implement, and manage TI's communications strategy to effectively elevate TI's profile and brand globally.
- Oversee TI's digital outreach and public engagement, ensuring that online presence and advocacy efforts accurately reflect the organization’s global and regional initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Head of Fundraising to create a cohesive communications and marketing strategy that supports fundraising efforts and aligns with broader organizational goals.
- Utilize a variety of communication technologies to enhance engagement and income generation opportunities.
- Manage editorial content production and provide strategic direction for major publications.
- Develop and execute integrated communications campaigns to support TI's projects and advocacy objectives.
- Identify and leverage opportunities to promote TI's brand and messages to diverse audiences.
- Act as the guardian of TI's brand, safeguarding it from reputational risks.
- Direct media strategies and ensure effective engagement with global media outlets.
- Lead crisis communication efforts to protect colleagues in high-risk situations and counter misinformation.
- Support National Chapters in managing their strategic communications and crisis responses.
- Enhance internal communications to foster a culture of information sharing within the organization.
- Employ data analytics to continuously improve TI's online communication effectiveness.
- Provide strong leadership to the Communications team, setting clear goals and managing performance.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A university degree in communications, marketing, journalism, political science, international relations, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of professional experience in communications, with significant expertise in media relations, public relations, marketing, and content strategy, including at least 5 years in a senior role.
- A solid understanding of best practices in online communications and experience in integrating communication strategies with advocacy efforts.
- A blend of strategic insight and practical execution skills to achieve results within deadlines and budgets.
- Political acumen and the ability to navigate sensitive issues diplomatically across various cultural contexts.
- Experience in crisis communications and the ability to respond swiftly to opportunities and challenges in the media landscape.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, with additional languages being an advantage.
- Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, demonstrating extensive leadership capabilities.
- A deep interest in corruption, governance, and international development issues, along with a commitment to the values of Transparency International.
