Environmental Sustainability Consultant

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional in environmental sustainability to become a part of our Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) division. This role primarily involves executing and overseeing projects that tackle various complex challenges associated with environmental Life Cycle Assessment modeling and reporting, focusing on multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will be to assist clients in developing more sustainable products and enhancing their operational sustainability. You will support clients in measuring and reporting on product and corporate sustainability. This may include creating Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) utilizing our GaBi software, preparing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) based outcomes, and contributing to other sustainability-focused initiatives. Your daily tasks may involve:
- Overseeing several simultaneous consulting projects that involve Life Cycle Assessment, feasibility analyses, Total Cost of Ownership assessments, and product or corporate sustainability strategies.
- Developing LCA models for products or services using our GaBi software.
- Composing reports that comply with ISO 14040/44 standards to document your project activities.
- Utilizing Excel (or other data formats) to analyze and manipulate data structures.
- Conducting analyses on energy consumption, water usage, waste management, air emissions, and associated costs.
- Preparing and delivering project findings in PowerPoint or other presentation formats.
- Ensuring that your projects meet established scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Collaborating with Sphera team members across various specialties and regions, including topics on energy transitions, alternative fuels, powertrains, hydrogen, and green chemistry.
- Building and maintaining strong, lasting relationships with current clients.
- Travel may be necessary on a project-by-project basis (up to 20% of your time).
Candidate Profile
- A proactive and positive attitude.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- A strong interest and knowledge in sustainability, environmental systems, life cycle thinking, product sustainability, and climate change.
- Experience in managing small to medium-sized project teams.
- A solid quantitative or technical background with a keen analytical mindset. A natural curiosity to explore issues, conduct research, design solutions, and translate findings into practical business applications.
- Ability to learn new software quickly—some basic programming experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of articulating issues, delivering presentations, and preparing formal reports.
- Self-driven and organized; able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- A commitment to helping businesses achieve environmental sustainability.
