Data Governance Lead

The Data Governance Lead is responsible for establishing and executing comprehensive data management strategies that enhance the quality and efficiency of digital data. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence and maximizing return on investment while minimizing errors. As the primary authority on all types of data, including new, real-time, and synthetic data, this position leads a team of data specialists and oversees the implementation of data governance frameworks and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Digital Innovation Technology (DIT) team to assess, design, and deploy data governance structures, data warehouses, and data lakes tailored to the needs of the organization.
  • Work alongside DIT teams to safeguard the security, integrity, and accessibility of digital data assets.
  • Establish and uphold data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at standardizing data formats, naming conventions, and classification systems to promote consistency and interoperability.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to derive actionable insights from digital data.
  • Design and implement data pipelines to facilitate efficient and repeatable data science initiatives.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective data management solutions.
  • Develop and conduct training programs to enhance employee knowledge of data management best practices and tools.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in digital data management to foster continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management regarding the performance and impact of digital data initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English and basic proficiency in German.
  • Proven experience in digital data management, database administration, and data engineering.
  • Strong grasp of data governance principles, data modeling techniques, and data visualization tools.
  • Process-oriented with a solid understanding of financial principles and operational awareness.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex challenges and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as SQL, NoSQL, Python, and familiar with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), SAP S/4 HANA, and various analytic and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.
