Research Associate in Population Health Analysis

Position Overview: The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate closely with Dr. Pascal Geldsetzer and a team of experts at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health and Stanford University. This role involves leading significant analyses of extensive electronic health record datasets to evaluate the real-world effectiveness of various medications, lifestyle recommendations, and health service interventions on both health outcomes and health system performance.
Research Focus: The datasets utilized will encompass records from the United Kingdom, USA, Denmark, and Germany. The research group is engaged in a diverse array of studies, concentrating on medication effectiveness, health services research, and population health challenges. Methodologies employed include quasi-experimental designs, descriptive epidemiology, and randomized controlled trials.
Opportunities for Development: The postdoctoral fellow will have the chance to mentor PhD, Master's, and Dr. med students (thesis as part of medical studies in Germany). Additionally, there may be opportunities to teach within the institute's Master's and doctoral programs, although this is not a requirement.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary will be aligned with the German TV-L system, applicable to public service employees. Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree with quantitative research training or experience
- Experience in quasi-experimental methods is advantageous
- Proficient coding skills in R, Stata, or similar statistical software
- Effective communication skills in English (German language skills are not required)
- Goal-oriented individual with opportunities for further education and training
