Your ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Senior Machine Learning Researcher, you will be instrumental in translating advanced deep learning methodologies from theoretical research into practical applications, staying abreast of the latest academic advancements.
Your key duties will include:
- Designing, implementing, and adapting state-of-the-art deep learning solutions to tackle complex real-world problems in collaboration with a team of researchers, project leaders, and engineers.
- Defining our research agenda, informed by both our internal interests and the challenges presented by our clients and engineering projects.
- Delivering impactful results in publicly funded research initiatives and advocating for our objectives with consortium partners.
- Contributing to the development of our project portfolio and assisting in our business development efforts.
- Establishing and promoting coding standards and best practices for scientific experimentation to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborating on and presenting research papers at prestigious machine learning conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, or ICLR.
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience as an applied machine learning researcher, with strong software engineering skills and familiarity with the latest deep learning technologies.
You would be an excellent addition to our team if you meet the following criteria:
- PhD or over 5 years of research experience in machine learning or a related technical discipline.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- A proven track record of publications in leading journals or conferences relevant to your field.
- A passion for collaborating with a highly motivated team of seasoned machine learning researchers and mentoring junior researchers.
- Proficient in Python programming and data engineering.
- Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or Jax.
- Experience in leading and prioritizing technical or research projects.
- Adept at balancing rapid prototyping with best engineering practices (reproducibility, version control, code reviews, etc.).
- Fluent in English, with a basic understanding of German.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
- Hands-on experience with distributed computing, experiment tracking tools, and orchestration frameworks like Ray, Weights & Biases, and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with collaborating in large public research consortia, funded by organizations such as DFG, BMWK, BMBF, or the EU.
