Position SummaryThe Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental (HSSE) Manager for EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and O&M (Operations & Maintenance) will oversee the execution and assessment of HSSE initiatives across ib vogt's EPC and O&M sectors. This role is pivotal in providing direction and collaboration for comprehensive HSSE management across various projects, ensuring adherence to local health, safety, and environmental regulations as well as ib vogt's internal standards.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, social, and environmental regulations, including ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards across the EPC and O&M divisions.
- Design, implement, and manage HSSE programs tailored for EPC and O&M operations.
- Lead HSSE teams within ib vogt and coordinate with subcontractor teams.
- Collaborate with the EPC and O&M management, corporate ESG department, and HSSE colleagues to execute the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) for construction and operational assets.
- Conduct site HSSE audits and inspections as necessary.
- Analyze and report on HSSE metrics, ensuring thorough documentation.
- Develop and maintain operational HSSE tools, templates, and plans in partnership with the Head of EPC and O&M HSSE.
- Assist in coaching and mentoring site personnel on HSSE program implementation.
- Manage incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Oversee emergency preparedness and personal protective equipment (PPE) management.
- Ensure effective HSSE training programs are established and maintained.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the escalation point for local HSSE concerns within EPC and O&M.
- Coordinate the Occupational Risk Prevention Plan for photovoltaic plants during EPC and O&M phases.
- Encourage and manage proposals for enhancements in health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Review work procedures and contracts to identify needs and enhance HSSE processes.
- Ensure preventive measures are effectively implemented during the EPC and O&M phases.
- Follow up on corrective actions related to incidents and accidents.
- Support the development of globally relevant HSSE documentation and standards.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety roles within construction or O&M energy utility projects, with experience in markets such as Germany, France, or the Netherlands being advantageous.
- Familiarity with international construction HSSE best practices.
- Technical knowledge in electrical installations.
- Strong teamwork, team-building, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven leadership and management capabilities in HSE.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with strong communication abilities; proficiency in German is a plus.
- Professional degree in Health, Safety, Environment, or a relevant technical field related to energy or construction.
- NEBOSH construction safety qualification or an international general certificate in occupational health and safety.
