Unlocking Developmental Mysteries Through Data: Computational and Developmental Biology PhD Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD candidate to join our dynamic research team at MDC, focusing on the cutting edge of computational biology and developmental biology. You will play a pivotal role in unraveling the complex processes governing embryonic development using advanced single-cell genomics and machine learning techniques.
Your Responsibilities:- Develop innovative algorithms to decipher cellular differentiation trajectories within developing embryos, leveraging time-resolved single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and lineage tracing data.
- Harness the power of machine learning to integrate spatial transcriptomics with other data modalities, such as single-cell transcriptome profiles and advanced microscopy images.
- Compare and contrast mouse embryonic development with a diverse range of species (e.g., human, fish, bird) and synthetic embryo models.
- Analyze and compare the development of synthetic organoids with in vivo embryonic development.
- Collaborate closely with experimental researchers to bridge the gap between computational analysis and biological insights.
- Contribute actively to a highly interdisciplinary team, working alongside data scientists, computational biologists, and experimental biologists.
- Master's degree in computational or natural sciences.
- Strong foundation in computational or quantitative methods (computational biology, bioinformatics, mathematics, or related field).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R is essential; experience in developing efficient and reusable software is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration within the team and with scientific partners.
- Solid understanding of statistical principles and hands-on experience with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques.
- Ability to work independently and tackle challenging analytical tasks.
