Position Overview:

The Director of Manufacturing Operations is a crucial position responsible for managing our production activities at BioCheck, Inc. This role focuses on enhancing operational effectiveness, refining manufacturing workflows, and upholding the utmost standards of quality and safety. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and the Chief Operations Officer (COO), this position entails strategic oversight, team leadership, and collaboration across various functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement production strategies that align with corporate goals and market needs.
  • Supervise the progression of products through the manufacturing process, including scheduling production timelines, coordinating material requirements, and proposing manufacturing policies and programs.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the production division.
  • Hold disciplinary authority over personnel decisions within the manufacturing team.
  • Guide, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing production workforce, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Adopt best practices to enhance efficiency, minimize costs, and boost productivity across all production lines.
  • Manage budget responsibilities: create and plan the production budget based on forecasts and operational necessities; track production expenses to ensure budget compliance.
  • Administer budget, resource distribution, and capacity planning to effectively achieve production objectives.
  • Collaborate effectively with R&D, Quality Assurance, procurement, logistics, and other departments to streamline operations.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and compliance standards and support relevant auditing processes.
  • Identify and assist in the development of departmental KPIs, monitoring the performance of the production division to meet established goals.
  • Support all Root Cause Analysis investigations and lead initiatives for problem resolution.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead initiatives for efficiency enhancements and production automation projects.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of five years of direct experience in a senior production leadership role within a regulated sector is essential, with a preference for experience in diagnostics or medical device industries.
  • Several years of experience in personnel management.
  • Evidence of training aptitude or other formal management training.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Capability to establish overarching strategies and drive process enhancements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various organizational functions, including Quality Control, Quality Assurance/Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Sales, and Supply Chain.
  • In-depth knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and quality management systems (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO standards).
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that foster operational excellence and business growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in both German and English is required.
  • Familiarity with facility-related requirements such as HVAC, Refrigeration, Pest Control Management, and commercial leasing activities is preferred.
