Position Overview

We are seeking a driven and seasoned Lead Data Solutions Engineer to enhance our data infrastructure in alignment with the dynamic requirements of our expanding organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in the development and optimization of GLS/NXT data pipelines and data storage solutions utilizing cutting-edge technologies. Your responsibilities will include the design, construction, and upkeep of ETL processes, as well as the deployment and oversight of data systems, ensuring top-notch data integrity for our analytics teams. As one of the initial members of our technology division, you will have ample opportunities for personal and professional growth – you will steer your own journey.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must already possess a valid work permit in Germany, as relocation or visa support is not available for this position.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance the GLS/NXT data infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the GLS/NXT data analytics framework and data repository.
  • Design, construct, monitor, and optimize data pipelines for data warehousing, integrating multiple data sources and destinations.
  • Develop data models and schemas that meet analytical needs.
  • Work alongside other engineering teams to tackle architectural and infrastructural challenges, crafting effective solutions.
  • Engage in cross-departmental projects that support data applications and reporting initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve data quality challenges, implementing best practices.
  • Create and maintain thorough documentation of systems.

Qualifications for Success

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in data engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in designing, constructing, monitoring, and scaling data engineering pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with contemporary data engineering platforms such as Apache Spark and Apache Airflow.
  • Strong programming skills in modern data languages, including Python and Go.
  • Extensive practical experience with cloud services, particularly AWS and GCP.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions, including Google BigQuery and Snowflake.

Core Competencies

  • Proficient in SQL for diverse data sources, with robust data modeling and schema design capabilities.
  • Expertise in Looker and LookML for effective data visualization and reporting.
  • Ability to adapt in an agile environment, thriving in fast-paced settings with a quick response to changing priorities.
  • Experience in software development operations management, including CI/CD pipelines, with a solid understanding of agile methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing projects in alignment with business goals.
