Key Responsibilities:

Our Sustainability team collaborates with organizations and government agencies to achieve sustainability goals, including deep decarbonization, climate resilience, and positive social impact. We assist clients in navigating the intricate landscape of climate change, sustainability regulations, evolving consumer preferences, and the energy transition to develop sustainable and profitable products, processes, business models, and services. We leverage and advise on leading frameworks such as Science-Based and Net-Zero Targets, CSRD, TNFD, TCFD, and create innovative digital, programmatic, and financial solutions in partnership with our clients. Our team engages with all segments of Guidehouse, including financial services, energy providers, life sciences, and government.

• You will make a direct impact by supporting clients throughout their sustainability journey while collaborating with your team to address pressing sustainability challenges. This includes, but is not limited to, data collection and analysis, industry research, report writing, developing Excel models, translating findings into actionable recommendations, preparing presentations and workshops, and presenting your insights to clients.
• You will contribute to complex projects and gain project management experience by overseeing smaller projects and workstreams.
• You will engage in diverse assignments related to corporate sustainability and the energy transition. Examples include:
  • Creating a decarbonization roadmap for an industry sector association
  • Calculating a greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint and establishing GHG emissions targets for a global restaurant brand, integrated energy company, or chemical manufacturer
  • Evaluating physical climate risk exposure and identifying mitigation strategies for a global port and terminal operator
  • Establishing a sustainability program for a global fashion brand, including financing mechanisms
  • Assisting an industrial firm in procuring renewable electricity and transitioning on-site energy infrastructure to lower carbon options, including managing the related tendering process
  • Preparing market forecasts for low-carbon building technology providers
  • Analyzing ESG-related risks for investors in a global biotech firm
  • Assessing climate risks and opportunities for a global food and beverage company
  • Developing a human rights policy and governance structure for a multinational retailer
  • Supporting an energy company in raising capital for its portfolio decarbonization
  • Conducting a gap analysis and double materiality assessment under CSRD for a multinational corporation

Qualifications:

You possess a strong drive to deliver results for clients, combined with analytical skills and a passion for sustainability issues, decarbonization, and climate change.

• Relevant experience & training
  • Master's degree in engineering, energy, business, economics, or a related field
  • Excellent academic performance (GPA of 3.5 or higher)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Familiarity with data analytics and analysis software such as Power BI, R, Arc GIS, etc., is a plus
  • Knowledge of climate risk assessments, agriculture/forestry, or sustainability reporting is advantageous
• Strong quantitative & analytical skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A critical thinker with attention to detail and the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Demonstrated data collection and organizational skills
• Strong qualitative & team skills
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation abilities
  • Proven capability to distill complex content and analysis into clear insights and implications for clients
  • A collaborative team player who effectively works in diverse teams and engages with colleagues and clients at all levels
• Language proficiency
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken) is required
• Flexibility
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed
  • Able to manage multiple projects while understanding project objectives and client expectations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated extracurricular activities and/or international experience relevant to the position
• Fluency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is a plus
• Familiarity with and passion for topics such as:
  • Climate risk, resilience, and adaptation (e.g., TCFD)
  • Energy (e.g., hydrogen economy, advanced energy technologies, electricity power and gas industries)
  • Sustainability (e.g., greenhouse gas accounting standards, circular economy, abatement strategies, CDP, CSRD, ISSB)
  • Innovation (e.g., advancement of new ideas and technologies)
  • Social equity
  • Environmental and sustainability policy and strategy work
