Are you passionate about collaborating with outstanding professionals in a dynamic team setting to assist major corporations and government entities in addressing intricate sustainability and climate-related challenges?

At Guidehouse, we are a prominent multinational consulting firm dedicated to serving both public and commercial sectors with our specialized expertise in strategy, technology, and risk management. Although you may not be familiar with our name yet, we have a rich legacy, merging PwC's former US public sector practice with Navigant's extensive knowledge in energy, sustainability, financial services, and healthcare. Our commitment to sustainability advisory is longstanding, having been among the pioneers in this field (as Ecofys), influencing policy, regulation, and global methodologies, including SBTi, PCAF, Supplier LoCT, and Fashion PACT.

As a $5.3 billion private equity-backed organization, we are experiencing rapid growth, and our investors are eager to pursue ambitious expansion goals. This continuous investment opens doors for our employees to develop and gain diverse exposure within a culture that values entrepreneurship, creativity, and collaboration across our global practices.

We provide an engaging, fast-paced environment that promotes intellectual development and rewards individuals based on their impact rather than tenure. Our focus is on markets undergoing transformational change, driven by technology innovation and significant regulatory pressures. Our consultants leverage world-class knowledge and problem-solving skills to deliver groundbreaking solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Our Sustainability team collaborates with businesses and governmental bodies to achieve sustainability objectives, including comprehensive decarbonization, climate resilience, and positive social impact. We guide clients through the intricate landscape of climate change, sustainability regulations, evolving consumer preferences, and the energy transition to realize sustainable and profitable products, processes, business models, and services. We utilize and advise on leading frameworks such as Science-Based and Net-Zero Targets, CSRD, TNFD, TCFD, and develop innovative digital, programmatic, and financial solutions in partnership with our clients. Our team engages with all segments of Guidehouse, including financial services, energy providers, life sciences, and government.

  • You will make a direct impact by assisting clients on their sustainability journey, working alongside your team to address critical sustainability inquiries. This encompasses data collection and analysis, industry research, report writing, Excel model development, translating findings into actionable insights, preparing presentations and workshops, and presenting your conclusions to clients.
  • You will contribute to complex projects and gain project management experience by overseeing smaller projects and workstreams.
  • You will engage in diverse assignments connected to corporate sustainability and the energy transition. Examples include:
    • Creating a decarbonization roadmap for an industry sector association
    • Calculating a greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint and establishing GHG emissions targets for a global restaurant brand, integrated energy company, or chemical manufacturer
    • Evaluating physical climate risk exposure and identifying mitigation strategies for a global port and terminal operator.
    • Establishing a sustainability program for a global fashion brand, including financing mechanisms
    • Assisting an industrial firm in procuring renewable electricity and transitioning on-site energy infrastructure to lower carbon options, including managing the related tendering process.
    • Preparing market forecasts for low-carbon building technology providers
    • Analyzing ESG-related risks for investors in a global biotech company
    • Assessing climate risks and opportunities for a global food and beverage corporation
    • Developing a human rights policy and governance framework for a multinational retailer.
    • Supporting an energy company in raising capital for its portfolio decarbonization.
    • Conducting a gap analysis and double materiality assessment under CSRD for a multinational corporation.

Qualifications:

You possess a strong drive to deliver results for clients, combined with analytical skills and a genuine interest in sustainability issues, decarbonization, and climate change.

  • Relevant experience & training
    • Master's degree in engineering, energy, business, economics, or a related field
    • Outstanding academic performance (GPA of 3.5 or higher)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
    • Familiarity with data analytics and analysis software such as Power BI, R, Arc GIS, etc., is advantageous.
    • Knowledge of climate risk assessments, agriculture/forestry, or sustainability reporting is a plus.
  • Strong quantitative & analytical skills
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • A critical thinker with attention to detail and the broader context
    • Proficient in data collection and organizational skills.
  • Strong qualitative & team skills
    • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation abilities.
    • Proven capacity to distill complex content and analysis into clear insights and implications for clients.
    • A collaborative team player who effectively engages with diverse teams and clients at all levels.
  • Language proficiency
    • Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken) is required.
  • Flexibility
    • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
    • Able to manage multiple projects while understanding project objectives and client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated extracurricular activities and/or international experience relevant to the position.
  • Fluency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is a plus.
  • Familiarity with and enthusiasm for the following areas is beneficial:
    • Climate risk, resilience, and adaptation (e.g., TCFD)
    • Energy (e.g., hydrogen economy, advanced energy technologies, electricity power and gas industries)
    • Sustainability (e.g., greenhouse gas accounting standards, circular economy, abatement strategies, CDP, CSRD, ISSB)
    • Innovation (e.g., advancement of new ideas and technologies)
    • Social equity
    • Environmental and sustainability policy and strategy work

Benefits:

  • Opportunities for international work.
  • Regular team-building activities and in-person events.
  • Upon joining, you will be paired with a People Manager to guide your career and a buddy for peer support.
  • In addition to hands-on experience, our Guidehouse Learning platform will assist you in acquiring the diverse skills necessary for success.
  • Employees are encouraged to participate in internal initiatives to foster connections within the firm, such as diversity & inclusion, corporate social responsibility, and community engagement teams.
  • Guidehouse offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees in achieving personal well-being and financial goals while maintaining a desirable work-life balance.
