Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Scientist Researcher to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for conceiving and implementing feasibility experiments to demonstrate the proof of principle of new development concepts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Experiment Design and Implementation: Design and implement feasibility experiments to demonstrate the proof of principle of new development concepts.
  • High Experimental Quality: Ensure high experimental quality and deep theoretical penetration throughout all stages of product development, from research to serial production.
  • Complex Problem-Solving: Embrace and overcome complex or novel challenges by developing effective solutions and execution strategies highlighting your problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with your colleagues to create control software for hardware components.
  • Documentation: Play an important role in the product development process, ensuring clear and comprehensive documentation.
  • Intellectual Property: Collaboratively apply principles, rules, and strategies related to intellectual property when drafting invention disclosures, patents, publications, and presentations, ensuring the protection of innovative ideas and technologies.
  • Representation: Serve as a representative of the company by positive and productive interactions with external customers and collaborators.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven first years industrial or several years academic experience in the development of sophisticated software solutions for analytic instrumentation.
  • Flexibility: Possess strong flexibility to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently and structured in a detailed scientific manner.
  • Scripting and Automation: Effective and efficient in designing and implementing automated instrument tuning routines using Python or other scripting languages.
  • Instrument Control: Demonstrate knowledge of instrument control, scripting, or automation of experiments.
  • Adaptability: Emphasize your strong flexibility to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently, demonstrating your ability to adapt to different work dynamics while maintaining a structured and detailed scientific approach.
  • Mass Spectrometry: Experience in the field of mass spectrometry and its applications is appreciated.
