The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1218 at the University of Cologne is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team. The successful candidate will be involved in research projects focused on mitochondrial function in skin inflammation and regeneration.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in molecular biology and a keen interest in studying basic mechanisms of disease processes. Previous experience in mouse work is desirable but not mandatory.

Applicants should have recently obtained their Diploma/Masters degree and be enthusiastic about contributing to our research team. The candidate will be actively involved in mouse work and will have the opportunity to develop their skills in molecular biology and cellular function.

» Your Future in Detail

The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1218 is a joint project of the University of Cologne, the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research in Cologne and the University of Bonn. Our research focuses on how mitochondria influence activity, differentiation and survival of the cell. The CRC 1218 has been funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) since July 2016 and is entering its third phase, funded until 2028.

The CRC 1218 is organized in seventeen scientific and five central projects. The Integrated Research Training Group (mito-RTG) provides doctoral candidates and postdoctoral scientists with the best possible scientific environment, guidance, mentoring and teaching.
