Sales Director

As a Sales Director at Anixter International, you will be responsible for leading the sales team and driving business growth in your assigned region. You will be accountable for achieving sales and profitability goals through direction, organization, coordination, communication, and development of field sales, inside sales, and other sales professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and administer sales plans to ensure customer satisfaction, assigned quota attainment, and highly skilled and motivated staff.
- Achieve annual sales and gross profit plans by implementing sales strategies and analyzing trends and results in conjunction with regional and business unit management teams.
- Establish sales objectives and forecasts expected sales volume and profit for existing and new product lines and customers.
- Drive EBIT performance of the region and communicate and execute on the overall EMEA wide strategy.
- Articulate, sell, and coach services and "Total Cost of Ownership" concepts to customers.
- Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with market supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
- Coordinate order service by directing account representatives on quotations, proposals, project order management techniques, and customer complaint resolution.
- Maintain sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Maintain sales staff results by counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Forecast and communicate intricate details to senior management.
Requirements:
- University Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree - Sales, Business Administration/Management, Engineering, or relevant field preferred.
- Related industry professional sales/7+ years.
- Experience leading and managing staff and programs at national, district or regional level/5+ years.
- Working knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, initiate and implement sales strategies to achieve forecasted goals.
- Experience in building a business from the bottom up.
- Experience in operating in a matrix management environment.
- Understands competitive landscape, market insights, and effectively communicates across key internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven success in providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise teamwork, leadership, and flexibility.
- Excellent time management and computer skills.
- 10 years related industry professional sales.
- 7 years managing staff and programs at national, district or regional level.
- Ability to travel 25% - 50%.
Working Environment:
Outside Sales - Work is generally performed in an office environment, but employee may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities. Driving may be required for an extended period of time with frequent stops and starts. Can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
