We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team at Universität Hamburg. The successful candidate will work on the L5 project, which focuses on the application and assessment of the energetic mixing closure IDEMIX in climate states that are very different from today's.
About the ProjectThe L5 project aims to investigate an extreme future climate state without the Earth's major ice sheets. By applying the internal wave model IDEMIX to consistently parameterize the wave-induced mixing, we want to analyze how the barotropic tidal current changes associated with ice sheet melt and sea level rise impact the internal tide generation, propagation, and dissipation.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be part of the theoretical oceanography group at Universität Hamburg, working under the supervision of Dr. Friederike Pollmann and Dr. Alexa Griesel as well as Prof. Dr. Carsten Eden. Collaboration with Dr. Sophie-Berenice Wilmes (Bangor University) is planned with a particular focus on the barotropic tidal modeling during these extreme climate states.
Responsibilities- Conduct research on climate modeling and numerical simulation
- Develop and apply the internal wave model IDEMIX

- Present and publish scientific results
- University degree in a relevant field
- Completed M.Sc. or equivalent in physical oceanography, meteorology, physics, applied mathematics or related relevant fields
