Job Title: Research Associate for Ocean Surface Layer Energetics

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team at Universität Hamburg. The successful candidate will work on understanding the dynamics of the oceanic surface mixed layer, focusing on submesoscales.

About the Project

This project aims to evaluate the model results of submesoscales using high-resolution numerical modeling and available observations. The candidate will be part of the "Theoretical Oceanography" working group and the Research Training Group "ENERGY".

Your Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on submesoscales and their impact on the oceanic surface mixed layer
  • Develop and implement numerical models to simulate submesoscale dynamics
  • Collaborate with the research team to analyze and interpret results
  • Pursue independent research and further academic qualifications
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant field (oceanic or atmospheric sciences, physics, applied mathematics, or a related field)
  • Experience with Linux/Unix, script-based languages (e.g. Matlab, Python), and ocean modeling
  • Good English skills and ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary team
