Position Overview

As the Sustainability Associate Director, you will spearhead our International Sustainability Department at HelloFresh, setting ambitious targets, outlining new objectives, launching innovative projects, and refining the necessary team structure. Our mission is to solidify our status as a recognized leader in climate change mitigation, food waste reduction, sustainable sourcing, and empowering our consumers towards sustainability, achieved through commercially viable and globally scalable innovations.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison for all international markets, facilitating knowledge sharing and communication within the sustainability community across various departments and stakeholders.
  • Innovation: Drive and support intelligent solutions that position HelloFresh as the most sustainable entity in its sector, including conducting research studies, enhancing our data infrastructure, and implementing renewable energy solutions.
  • Facilitation: Promote sustainable practices among HelloFresh employees and customers by sharing best practices across markets.
  • Education: Elevate the organization’s understanding of sustainability topics by sharing your expertise and mentoring junior team members.
  • Team Development: Foster a positive team culture and establish a structured approach through a strategically defined OKR framework.
  • Project Management: Oversee complex projects that involve multiple departments, positioning yourself as the sustainability expert for cross-functional teams.
  • Mentorship: Guide colleagues from various departments on sustainability-related matters.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Leading the HelloFresh International Sustainability Organization.
  • Managing and ensuring the achievement of our existing objectives.
  • Implementing our international sustainability program aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, reducing waste, and improving our carbon footprint across operations.
  • Overseeing the Group Non-Financial Reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Aligning sustainability initiatives with internal stakeholders across various functions.
  • Standardizing and implementing programs for energy efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Providing technical sustainability guidance to executive leadership.
  • Monitoring target setting and progress.
  • Developing forecasts for energy consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Sharing expert knowledge and best practices with local subsidiaries.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the sustainability sector.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a direct management role with a diverse portfolio.
  • Postgraduate degree in Sustainable Production, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of current sustainability trends and regulatory compliance.
  • Expertise in GHG Protocol, Life Cycle Assessment, and other key sustainability concepts.
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks and experience with third-party audits.
  • Strategic partnership management experience with various stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to developing sustainable solutions that are economically viable.
  • Data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the capacity for independent work and initiative.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Proficient in writing technical requirements and developing business models.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous.

Preferred:

  • Degree in a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in sustainability within food, FMCG, or logistics.
  • Experience with OKR frameworks.
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices.
  • SQL proficiency.
  • Membership in a professional sustainability organization.
