Your Role

We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee the daily operations of our Security Operations Center (SOC), managing a team of security analysts and ensuring the protection of our organization's information systems.

Cyber defense is driven by creative thinking and taking a different perspective on frequently overlooked technologies and systems. We believe the industry gains from making room for all genders and ethnicities, and also from talent from diverse career backgrounds.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a modern, highly automated threat detection system to protect our organization's information systems.
  • Lead and manage the SOC vendor team, ensuring alignment with organizational security objectives and standards.
  • Guide the SOC vendor team in operating innovative tools to automate security monitoring and assessments, and engage with infrastructure and developer teams to improve the security lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to the SOC vendor team to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Create solutions to mitigate hacking risks, based on a deep understanding of the hackers' mindset.
  • Coordinate and manage the response to security incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Oversee the detection, analysis, and mitigation of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring of security events through various tools and technologies, and conduct thorough analysis to identify potential threats.
  • Generate and present regular reports on SOC activities and overall security posture to senior management.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure comprehensive security coverage and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage SOC tools and technologies, ensuring they are up-to-date and properly configured to support security operations.
  • Calculate and report threat indicators and hackability scores to the top management of Rakuten Symphony, as well as to Rakuten Inc.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a security operations center or a similar cybersecurity role with at least 2 years in a leadership or management position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Master's degree preferred or comparable professional experience.
  • Proficiency in security information and event management (SIEM) tools, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team with strong interpersonal and communication skills in English across all organizational levels.
  • Experience in integrating threat intelligence into SOC operations, including gathering, analyzing, and applying threat intelligence data.
  • Relevant experience in conducting threat hunting activities to proactively identify and mitigate cyber threats.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining security incident response playbooks/rules (Detection Engineering) and procedures.
  • Good understanding of security threats.
  • Strong expertise in security-relevant processes, including infrastructure hardening and patching.
  • Experience with threat monitoring.
  • Experience in conducting digital forensics investigations, including data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with vulnerability management and risk management tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability and eagerness to advise on complex technology questions.
  • Problem-solving skills in information security projects.
  • Ability to work fully independent and solve complex problems or situations based on multiple sources of information.
  • Strong understanding of network security, threat intelligence, incident response, telecom hacking, cloud security, and forensic analysis.
  • Confident scripting, building tools, implementing test automation.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with a proactive and forward-thinking approach.
  • You enjoy the process of detecting and helping remediate security issues.
