System Engineer (w/m/d) for HVDC Control and Protection
We are seeking a motivated Junior System Engineer (w/m/d) for our team of experts working on HGÜ-Leittechniksystemen. The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain DC Grids. The focus will be on software development, protection and coordination studies, and hardware integration of our solutions on test fields.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, experience in software development, and knowledge of MATLAB/SIMULINK. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential for this role.
Responsibilities- Responsibility for the preparation of offers, engineering phase, performance and customer acceptance tests, and support for the commissioning of plants in Erlangen to worldwide customer delivery
- Support in the creation of DC protection concepts for self-controlled multilevel converters with half- and full-bridge modules for various applications
- Conducting protection coordination studies of HVDC plants, including determination of DC protection settings and creation of study documentation
- Contribution to the programming of software for protection and measurement systems for the control technology on the SIMATIC TDC multi-processor automation system and PLUSCONTROL platform
- Conducting functional and performance tests: Model-Based-Testing (MBT) in SIMULINK and Hardware in the Loop (HiL) with real-time simulation systems (RTDS)
- Support in research and development topics for HVDC projects
- University degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field
- First experiences in the fields of regulation and protection, especially in the creation of DC protection concepts for HVDC, FACTS, or large converter applications
- Experience in software project development and testing of SRS systems (control, regulation, and system dynamics)
- Knowledge of MATLAB/SIMULINK, ideally in conjunction with real-time and embedded software, as well as modeling and simulation with PSCAD/EMTDC
- Fluent English skills
- Communication and teamwork skills to drive the result-oriented and creative development of our projects and focus on a high-quality execution of our solutions
