Trainee in Cost Estimation for Major Infrastructure Projects

Position Overview

Become a part of STRABAG Großprojekte GmbH and embark on your professional journey as a Trainee in Cost Estimation (m/w/d) for significant infrastructure projects in the field of transportation construction. Our comprehensive 12-15 month trainee program is designed to provide you with a tailored development plan aimed at preparing you for a future role in cost estimation.

As a trainee, you will engage in various tasks including:

  • Preparing bids and offer calculations
  • Estimating costs for construction services
  • Conducting price inquiries with subcontractors in collaboration with procurement
  • Performing quantity take-offs based on project documentation
  • Developing order calculations and identifying potential cost savings
  • Maintaining calculation databases and formulating technical concepts for bid submissions
  • Executing project-specific risk assessments and opportunity analyses

This program offers you the chance to rotate through different departments, allowing you to gain a well-rounded understanding of construction projects from the initial bid phase to project completion. Key areas of exposure include:

  • Preconstruction
  • Cost Estimation
  • On-site Operations (site management, billing)
  • Procurement and Laboratory Services
  • International Construction Machinery Technology (BMTI)
  • Participation in skill development training sessions
  • Optional international assignment for three months

Candidate Profile

  • A completed degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • A strong interest in starting a career as a Trainee with aspirations to become a Cost Estimator (m/w/d) for large infrastructure projects
  • Previous experience in construction management or estimation is advantageous, such as internships or student roles
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with estimation software (e.g., iTWO) is preferred
  • Ability to work independently with a strong commitment to teamwork
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
