Principal API Solutions Engineer

UMATR is excited to collaborate with a dynamic software startup in the childcare sector, aiming to enhance their engineering team in Berlin, Germany. They are on the lookout for a Senior API Integration Engineer to join their team and contribute to their growth journey.
Position Overview
As a Senior Engineer, you will be skilled in comprehensive API development, tasked with creating integrations with various German systems. Your role will involve scoping, researching, planning, and executing integrations between our platform and a selection of German systems, including Datev, Destatis, and ISBJ.
In this senior position, you will lead the requirements phase with our larger client partners whose systems we aim to integrate. This will also include acting as a technical Sales Engineer during discussions with potential enterprise clients.
You will be a vital member of one of their platform teams while also contributing to other domains such as developer tools, security features, and platform infrastructure. However, your primary focus will be on developing integrations, requiring extensive experience in API development and external system integration. Furthermore, you will engage in hands-on development tasks as an engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhancing client integration capabilities through APIs, Webhook systems, and integration platforms.
- Designing and implementing integrations with external systems via APIs.
- Coordinating with external system providers for seamless integration.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders, including clients.
- Participating in technical pre-sales discussions with enterprise customers.
- Assisting in responding to requests for proposals that necessitate integrations.
- Developing general features to improve the platform.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in system integration using various technologies, including REST API, GraphQL, and queue-based messaging.
- Fluency in German, both written and spoken.
- Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment.
- A passion for tackling complex interactions with other systems.
- Proficient in reading technical documentation and architecting solutions based on it.
- A strong commitment to building resilient systems and integrations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Scala or other JVM programming languages.
- Familiarity with PHP.
- Prior experience with DATEV, ISBJ, or Destatis.
- Experience in technical pre-sales discussions.
