Lead Software Engineer for API Development

UMATR is excited to collaborate with a dynamic software startup in the childcare sector, aiming to enhance their engineering workforce in Berlin, Germany. They are on the lookout for a Senior API Integration Engineer to join their team and contribute to their expansion.
Position Overview
As a seasoned engineer specializing in comprehensive API development, you will be tasked with creating integrations with various German systems. In your role as a Senior Engineer, you will engage in defining, researching, planning, and constructing integrations between our platform and a variety of German systems, including Datev, Destatis, and ISBJ.
Your seniority will allow you to lead the requirements phase with our significant customer partners whose systems we aim to connect with. This role will also involve participating as a technical Sales Engineer during discussions with potential enterprise clients.
You will be integrated into one of their platform teams while also making contributions to other domains such as developer tools, security enhancements, and platform infrastructure. However, your primary focus will remain on developing integrations, and you should possess substantial experience in API development and external system integration. Additionally, you will be involved in hands-on engineering tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhancing client integration capabilities to encompass APIs, Webhook systems, and integration platforms.
- Designing and implementing integrations with external systems via APIs.
- Coordinating with external system vendors for integration initiatives.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders, including clients.
- Participating in technical pre-sales discussions with enterprise customers.
- Assisting in responding to public contract tenders that necessitate integrations.
- Developing general features.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in system integration utilizing various technologies, including REST API, GraphQL, and message queuing.
- Proficiency in German, both written and spoken.
- Excellent ability to thrive in a multicultural environment.
- A passion for tackling highly complex interactions with other systems.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and architect solutions accordingly.
- A strong commitment to building robust systems and integrations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Scala or other JVM programming languages.
- Experience with PHP.
- Prior exposure to DATEV, ISBJ, or Destatis.
- Experience in pre-sales technical discussions.
