Media Manager for Political Communication

Location: Bonn or Berlin

This position offers an unlimited contract and will be filled promptly. The employment location will be either Bonn or Berlin, Germany.

Welthungerhilfe is a prominent voice in Germany and internationally on the issue of Zero Hunger. We actively participate in discussions surrounding the climate crisis, humanitarian aid, and the funding of development cooperation. To enhance our visibility, we are looking for a dedicated individual to join our Communications team, focusing on managing political topics related to development cooperation and global justice within our newsroom and across media platforms. You will also oversee Welthungerhilfe's presence on X and LinkedIn.

Your Responsibilities

  • Craft compelling narratives on development cooperation topics tailored to specific audiences, including press releases and briefings.
  • Collaborate with the team to create consistent and impactful messages addressing current political discussions.
  • Coordinate messaging and positioning with subject matter experts.
  • Monitor political developments both domestically and internationally, ensuring timely coverage in the newsroom.
  • Manage our X and LinkedIn channels, expanding our profiles and guiding their evolution.

Your Profile

  • You possess a background in journalism (degree and/or traineeship) or equivalent media training.
  • You have substantial experience in communications, media, or agency environments.
  • Your writing is confident and polished, capable of producing press releases and statements that resonate.
  • You are a keen political analyst with a strong interest in German political discourse.
  • You have extensive experience engaging with social media platforms.
  • You actively follow and participate in current online debates.
  • You thrive in a team setting and can produce quality content under tight deadlines.
  • You have excellent proficiency in both written and spoken German and English.
