Global Shield Secretariat Communication and Events Coordinator

**About the Global Shield**

The Global Shield against Climate Risks is a collaborative initiative launched by the G7 under Germany's presidency in 2022 in partnership with the Vulnerable Twenty Group of finance ministers (V20). The V20 and the G7 aim to scale up action and support to address the urgent needs of vulnerable people and countries facing increasing climate-related risks.

**Our Mission**

The Global Shield aims to provide more and better financial protection, enabling quick and reliable funding before or after disasters occur, and protecting governments, communities, businesses, and households against disaster impacts.

**Your Role**

As an intern in the Global Shield Secretariat, you will support the development and implementation of our communication and public relations strategy, including the annual report, social media, newsletter, and website. You will also assist in setting up and supporting events, as well as creating own social media ideas for Global Shield communication.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Support the development and implementation of the Global Shield's communication and public relations strategy
  • Assist in setting up and supporting events
  • Develop and implement own social media ideas for Global Shield communication
  • Support the processing of thematic focal points and the onboarding of new partners
  • Prepare and monitor internal meetings and meetings with members and partners

**Requirements**

  • Currently studying in fields such as communication, marketing, public relations, international cooperation, international studies, political science, or economics
  • Initial experience in topics such as adaptation to climate change, international climate policy, disaster risk management, or climate change is an advantage
  • Fluent in English; good knowledge of German and French is an advantage
  • Initial experience in developing or emerging countries is an advantage
  • Good self-organization and ability to work independently
  • High ability to work in a team and communication skills

**Important Note**

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student or have graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of their internship.

**Benefits**

GIZ offers a monthly stipend of €2,134.52 (gross).
