Position Overview

The role involves supporting the execution of network operations and services, which encompasses network monitoring, incident management, and customer service assurance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Network Operations and Services Engineer, you will:

  • Provide 24/7 first and second level technical support to clients worldwide, including network surveillance and fault resolution.
  • Proactively monitor and troubleshoot issues across a pan-European MPLS infrastructure, ensuring compliance with product SLAs.
  • Utilize your expertise in Optical and Ethernet networks to diagnose and resolve faults effectively.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers, maintaining professional relationships and clear communication.
  • Collaborate with key partners and vendors to manage and coordinate tasks efficiently.
  • Document incidents accurately during fault periods and provide regular updates using the company's fault management system.
  • Identify and implement solutions to recurring issues in Optical and Ethernet networks.
  • Generate technical reports for clients upon request.
  • Oversee software upgrades in collaboration with relevant vendors and internal teams.
Essential Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A solid understanding and hands-on experience with MSP, Ethernet, and DWDM systems, including implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with network management tools via GUI and CLI.
  • Experience with vendors such as ADVA, Ciena, Accedian, Infinera, Nokia, and Nortel.
  • A background in a telecom/IT helpdesk environment, along with experience working with global network providers.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-oriented approach.
  • The ability to learn and apply technical information swiftly, making informed decisions efficiently.
  • Fluency in German (C1 level) and a communicative level of English (B1 level).
Desirable Skills

Additional qualifications that would be beneficial include:

  • Experience with Layer 3 services and technologies.
  • An understanding of IP fundamentals and protocols, with practical experience in IP, MPLS, and VPN solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices.
Education

A bachelor's or master's degree in Business, IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field is required.

Certifications

Formal IT qualifications such as CCNP, CCSP, CCNA, CompTIA Network+, etc., along with ITIL Foundation certification, are preferred.
