Senior Field Applications Engineer

As a Principal Field Applications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between sales, Technical Marketing, and Applications Engineering. Your extensive experience in semiconductor solutions will be essential in guiding technical decision-makers and optimizing applications.

In this capacity, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with sales to serve as the primary liaison between customers, Technical Marketing, and Applications Engineering within the Aerospace, Defense, and High Reliability sectors.
  • Utilizing your strong communication skills and strategic mindset to establish yourself as a trusted advisor for technical decision-makers in the realm of power semiconductors.
  • Identifying and positioning optimal technology solutions tailored to meet customer needs while advocating for their feedback to influence future product development.
  • Building and nurturing collaborative relationships with customers through regular in-person engagements.
  • Acting as a trusted consultant to hardware designers in high-reliability applications, leveraging Infineon’s innovative devices to address their technical challenges.
  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of Aerospace & Defense programs to support your customer base and propose new product ideas for Infineon’s HiRel roadmap.
  • Understanding customer roadmaps, technology trends, R&D investments, and future requirements.
  • Assisting Technical Marketing in addressing customer application needs and defining new products and derivatives.
  • Analyzing competitive landscapes to develop strategies that enhance revenue growth in our targeted markets.
  • Collaborating closely with customers to design system solutions that incorporate Infineon’s expanding portfolio of Si/GaN/SiC power discretes, power multi-chip modules, memory, and Si/GaN power ICs.
  • Mentoring and guiding new graduates and junior Field Applications Engineers.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven success in semiconductor solution selling or design (5+ years as a Field Applications Engineer, applications engineer, or power hardware designer).
  • Deep expertise in power management and motor control applications.
  • The ability to foster positive relationships with customers and collaborate effectively within the sales and marketing teams.
  • Experience with Space (radiation-hardened) and/or Defense semiconductors.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The capability to prioritize and delegate technical inquiries based on return on investment.
  • Fluency in English and German.
