Senior Field Applications Engineer

As a Principal Field Applications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the semiconductor industry, serving as the essential connection between sales, Technical Marketing, and Applications Engineering. Your expertise in power semiconductors, combined with your strong communication abilities and strategic mindset, will enable you to provide critical insights to technical decision-makers.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with sales to act as the key liaison between customers, Technical Marketing, and Applications Engineering within the Aerospace, Defense, and High Reliability sectors.
  • Utilizing your exceptional communication skills and technical acumen to establish yourself as a trusted advisor for technical decision-makers.
  • Identifying and positioning optimal technology solutions that meet the immediate needs of customers while advocating for their feedback to influence future product developments.
  • Building and nurturing strong customer relationships through regular in-person engagements at their facilities.
  • Acting as a trusted consultant to high-reliability hardware designers, leveraging Infineon products to address their technical challenges.
  • Acquiring in-depth knowledge of Aerospace & Defense programs to support your clientele and propose innovative product ideas for Infineon's HiRel roadmap.
  • Gaining insights into customer roadmaps, technology trends, R&D investments, and future requirements.
  • Assisting Technical Marketing in addressing customer application needs and defining new products and derivatives.
  • Analyzing competitive landscapes at customer sites and formulating strategies to enhance revenue growth in the targeted Aerospace, Defense, and High Reliability Markets.
  • Collaborating closely with customers to design system solutions that incorporate Infineon's expanding HiRel portfolio, including Si/GaN/SiC power discretes, power multi-chip modules, memory, and Si/GaN power ICs.
  • Mentoring new graduates and junior Field Applications Engineers.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in semiconductor solution selling or design (5+ years as a Field Applications Engineer, applications engineer, or power hardware designer).
  • A deep understanding of power management and motor control applications.
  • The ability to foster positive relationships with customers and collaborate effectively within the sales and marketing teams.
  • Experience with Space (radiation-hardened) and/or Defense semiconductors.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • The capability to prioritize and delegate customer technical inquiries based on return on investment.
  • Fluency in English and German.
