As a Principal Field Applications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between sales, Technical Marketing, and Applications Engineering. Your extensive experience in semiconductor solution sales or design will be essential in guiding technical decision-makers.
In this capacity, you will:
- Collaborate with sales teams to serve as the primary liaison between customers, Technical Marketing, and Applications Engineering within the Aerospace, Defense, and High Reliability sectors.
- Utilize your exceptional communication skills, strategic insight, and profound technical expertise in power semiconductors to establish yourself as a trusted advisor for technical decision-makers.
- Identify and position optimal technology solutions tailored to meet the immediate needs of customers, while advocating for their input to influence future product developments.
- Foster and maintain strong customer relationships through regular in-person engagements at their facilities.
- Act as a trusted consultant to high-reliability hardware designers, leveraging Infineon products to address their technical challenges.
- Acquire a robust understanding of Aerospace & Defense programs to support your customer base and propose innovative product ideas for Infineon's HiRel roadmap.
- Comprehend customer roadmaps, technology initiatives, R&D investments, and future requirements.
- Assist Technical Marketing in addressing customer application needs and defining new products and derivatives.
- Analyze competitive landscapes at customer sites and devise strategies to enhance market presence.
- Collaborate closely with customers to design system solutions that integrate Infineon's expanding HiRel portfolio, including Si/GaN/SiC power discretes, power multi-chip modules, memory, and Si/GaN power ICs.
- Mentor and guide new graduates and junior Field Applications Engineers.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven success in semiconductor solution sales and/or design (5+ years as a Field Applications Engineer, applications engineer, or power hardware designer).
- A deep understanding of power management and motor control applications.
- The ability to cultivate positive relationships with customers and internal teams across sales and marketing.
- Experience with Space (radiation-hardened) and/or Defense semiconductors.
- Strong communication abilities.
- The capability to prioritize and delegate customer technical inquiries based on return on investment.
- Fluency in English and German.
