Your Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead our Venture Café Berlin team. As the Director, you will be responsible for building and leading the team, launching and directing programming for the Thursday Gathering and other ecosystem-building activities. Your goal will be to ensure Venture Café programming connects local innovators to the national and international entrepreneurship community.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with VCGI and CIC to develop the launch strategy for Venture Café Berlin and lead the execution of the launch plan.
- Work closely with the CIC Berlin General Manager to ensure success and align initiatives where appropriate.
- Scope and develop a yearly programming strategy to inspire and connect the local innovation community.
- Scope and secure foundational financial partners for Venture Café Berlin and build a pipeline for funding opportunities.
- Identify and partner with local ecosystem leaders as an advocate and spokesperson to build diverse and inclusive programs.
- Develop innovative program formats for delivering content and creating connection opportunities to maximize engagement.
- Lead and oversee strategic planning, impact measurement, and program budget for CIC Connect market access and other innovation programs in Berlin.
- Attract funding for programs and align them within the Thursday Gathering framework.
- Hire, lead, and coach direct reports towards success.
- Continuously review and implement improvements/changes to ensure the ongoing success and reputation of Venture Café and CIC Berlin.
- Collaborate with the Venture Café global network and CIC Connect global program to connect the Berlin community to global opportunities.
- Identify and mitigate risks to the effective operation of the Thursday Gathering.
- Collaborate with the CIC Berlin team to ensure effective programming and cross-promotion opportunities.
About You
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional who understands the challenges and opportunities of the Berlin start-up community. You will have a strong network and be able to lead teams, nurture relationships, and thrive in ambiguity. Your skills will include leading programs, matchmaking, innovating, connecting with the community, and fostering collaboration. You will be comfortable with public speaking, have excellent communication skills, and excel at connecting across business, academia, government, and civil society.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Berlin's start-up community, key influencers, networks, and organizations.
- Excellent organizational, project, and task management skills.
- Familiarity with digital media channels and ability to leverage them as part of your work.
- Comfort in Google Suite, WordPress, Salesforce, email campaign software, and project management software.
- Availability to work at the weekly Venture Café Thursday Gathering from 3-8pm.
- Fluency in English.
- Communicative German is a plus.
- Ability to legally work in Germany.
Our Offer
