Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the nephrology healthcare team to deliver safe and effective dialysis treatment for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Prepare, test, and operate dialysis machines for patient sessions.
- Accurately record pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
- Assess vascular access prior to treatment and perform necessary cannulation.
- Identify and address intradialytic issues as directed by physician orders.
- Monitor patient responses throughout the dialysis process.
- Ensure proper termination of venous access and discontinue dialysis according to established protocols.
- Communicate significant changes in patient conditions directly to the supervisor.
- Document all treatment data in the designated clinical application promptly and accurately.
- Collect and prepare lab samples according to laboratory specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dialysis machines and surrounding areas between treatments.
- Assist healthcare team members in providing patient education.
- Organize and utilize supplies and equipment efficiently to minimize waste.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Desired qualities include dependability, compassion, supportiveness, and collaboration.
- Previous experience in patient care within a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program and CPR certification.
