Dialysis Patient Care Technician

As a Dialysis Patient Care Technician at Fresenius Medical Care, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Your primary responsibility will be to function as part of the dialysis healthcare team, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Education: Assist healthcare members in providing patient-specific education on dialysis adequacy measures, including Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), and Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM).
- Treatment Administration: Welcome assigned patients, inquire about their well-being, and evaluate vascular access for patency. Perform vascular access cannulation, administer heparin as delegated, and initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
- Continuous Quality Improvement: Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes.
- Recruitment and Orientation: Participate in the recruitment process for new clinical staff and assist with clinical orientation and ongoing training.
- Preceptorship and Competency Evaluation: Function as a preceptor in direct patient care training and deliver competency evaluations to ensure ongoing performance of other PCTs.
- Environmental Integrity: Ensure a strong communication process between Clinical Managers, Education Coordinators, and direct patient care staff regarding training and organizational development programs.
- Infection Control: Assist with facility QAI infection control audits and reinforce new hire employee adherence to infection control policies and procedures.
- Transitional Care Coordination: Follow newly admitted patients through their first 4 weeks of dialysis and coordinate their transitional dialysis care.
- Patient Education and Support: Reinforce education and care-related matters to new patients and assist with coordination of transition to patient's modality choice.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, valid PCT national certification or state-specific certification, and at least 5 years of patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility. Continued employment dependent on successful completion of Fresenius Medical Care's dialysis training program and CPR certification.
