Justice clerks (m/f/d) engage in vital and varied responsibilities, working closely with judges, public prosecutors, legal officers, and court clerks. They frequently serve as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking legal guidance.

Your Key Responsibilities as a Justice Clerk (m/f/d):

At Courts, for instance:

  • Manage electronic files for civil and criminal proceedings
  • Provide information to involved parties and document their statements
  • Calculate court fees, collect payments, and determine witness compensations

At Public Prosecutors' Offices, for example:

  • Inform the Federal Office of Justice about convictions and facilitate entries in the criminal record

Training Overview:

The comprehensive training program spans two years and includes alternating phases of:

  • Practical training at courts and public prosecutors' offices for 14 months
  • 10 months of theoretical instruction at the Judicial Training Center in Essen, where you can live and study alongside fellow aspiring justice clerks.

Applications for the training can be submitted online within the district of the Higher Regional Court, with rotations through various District and Regional Courts during the training period.

What We Provide:

  • Provisional civil servant status during training with an initial salary of approximately 1,450 EUR per month
  • Training placements at various District Courts in the Düsseldorf area
  • Assigned mentors and extensive practical training

Candidate Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary education or an equivalent qualification
  • Strong proficiency in the German language and spelling, along with numerical skills
  • Enjoyment of teamwork and interaction with the public
  • Organizational abilities, teamwork, sense of responsibility, and reliability

For Civil Servant Status:

  • German citizenship or citizenship of another EU member state
  • Commitment to the democratic rule of law as outlined in the constitution
  • Maximum age of 42 at the commencement of the probationary civil servant status
