Internship in Cloud Infrastructure for Satellite Operations (d/f/m)

This internship is designed for those interested in gaining insights into the role of a Development Engineer (d/f/m) in the dynamic field of space operations. As an intern, you will be part of the Ground Segment Studies, Systems Engineering & IVV team.

  • Location: Friedrichshafen/Immenstaad
  • Duration: 6 months

During your internship, you will acquire a comprehensive understanding of cloud technology, Satellite Control Center operations, and flight operations, complemented by hands-on experience with a high-fidelity Satellite simulator.

The department focuses on designing and implementing complete Ground Segment solutions, which include data receiving stations, payload data processing, and satellite control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Define cloud infrastructure components and services for the Ground Segment.
  • Configure and implement the infrastructure within an Airbus-managed private cloud.
  • Deploy a Satellite Control Center in the cloud using the new European mission control software EGS-CC for both single and multi-satellite missions.
  • Implement and assess telemetry/telecommand interactions with a simulated satellite.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student (d/f/m) in Computer Science, Telecommunication, or a related field.
  • Proficient programming skills (e.g., Java, Python).
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and cloud technology is advantageous.
  • Understanding of telemetry/telecommand standards is a plus.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Self-organized and proactive.
  • Advanced English proficiency; basic German skills are beneficial.
