Trainee Position in Cloud Solutions for Space Operations Center (d/f/m)

Are you seeking a trainee opportunity and eager to explore the role of a Development Engineer (d/f/m) in the fascinating domain of space operations? We are excited to have you assist us in the Ground Segment Studies, Systems Engineering & IVV team as a trainee (d/f/m).

  • Location: Friedrichshafen/Immenstaad
  • Duration: 6 months

As a trainee, you will acquire in-depth knowledge of cloud technologies, Space Operations Center, and flight management, along with hands-on experience using a sophisticated Satellite simulator.

Our department specializes in the design and execution of comprehensive solutions for the entire Ground Segment, which includes data reception stations, payload data processing, and satellite management systems.

Your Responsibilities
  • Specification of cloud infrastructure elements and services for a Ground Segment.
  • Implementation and configuration of the infrastructure within a company-managed private cloud.
  • Design and deployment of a Space Operations Center in the cloud utilizing the new European mission control software EGS-CC for both single and multiple satellite missions.
  • Execution and assessment of telemetry/telecommand interactions with a simulated satellite.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Proficient programming skills (e.g., Java, Python).
  • Solid understanding of Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and cloud technologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of telemetry/telecommand standards is advantageous.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • English: advanced proficiency.
  • German: basic knowledge (higher proficiency is a plus).
