Configuration Management Program Manager

As an international organization, EUMETSAT employs a diverse workforce from all 30 member states. This position is advertised on various international platforms, and successful candidates will be required to relocate to Darmstadt, Germany.
The Configuration Management Competence Area (CM CA) plays a vital role in overseeing the intricate configuration of satellite systems and ground segment infrastructure, ensuring effective configuration control and change management practices.
The selected candidate will deliver comprehensive configuration support across the organization, adhering to the fundamental principles of configuration management, which include the identification of configuration items, their oversight, auditing, and status reporting.
This role involves managing and delivering Configuration Management support to the technical departments, including Programme Preparation and Development (PRD), Operations and Services to Users (OPS), and Technical and Scientific Support (TSS).
Reporting to the Head of Process Assurance and Management Support Division (PRS), the successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to leverage their expertise, leadership abilities, and strategic mindset to enhance configuration management activities throughout EUMETSAT.
Working alongside a skilled team of engineers and analysts, the candidate will have the chance to significantly influence the future of configuration management at EUMETSAT.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the Configuration Management (CM) Competence Area, ensuring the availability of resources, skills, expertise, and tools related to CM;
- Define, implement, and continuously refine Configuration Management (CM) processes for technical departments, aligning with EUMETSAT policies, organizational needs, and relevant international standards;
- Provide CM support to technical departments, ensuring performance expectations are met, including regular Configuration Status Account Reports for programs and operational systems, along with metrics on CM process implementation and support for Change Control Boards;
- Facilitate configuration audits for contractors involved in new developments, addressing all CM-related aspects as requested by program or department management;
- Organize and conduct regular CM training and awareness sessions;
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in managing Configuration Management processes and leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably in a technology-driven environment;
- Proven experience in leading large teams, developing talent, managing performance, and ensuring the long-term continuity of critical skills;
- Expertise in defining and implementing Configuration Management policies, objectives, practices, and procedures;
- Experience in running or supporting change control boards;
- Strong skills in process modeling, problem analysis, and monitoring;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within and across teams, adopting a customer-oriented approach.
Qualifications
- A university degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, preferably in Aerospace or Information Technology.
