Head of Configuration Management

As an international organization, EUMETSAT employs a diverse workforce from all 30 member states. This position is based in Darmstadt, Germany, and successful candidates from abroad will need to relocate.
The Configuration Management Competence Area (CM CA) plays a vital role in overseeing the intricate configuration of satellite systems and ground segment infrastructure, ensuring effective configuration control and change management practices.
The selected candidate will deliver comprehensive configuration support across various organizational units, focusing on key aspects of configuration management, including the identification, control, audit, and reporting of configuration items.
This role involves managing and providing Configuration Management support to the technical departments, including Programme Preparation and Development (PRD), Operations and Services to Users (OPS), and Technical and Scientific Support (TSS).
Reporting to the Head of Process Assurance and Management Support Division (PRS), the successful candidate will leverage their expertise and leadership capabilities to enhance configuration management initiatives throughout EUMETSAT.
Working alongside a skilled team of engineers and analysts, the candidate will have the opportunity to influence the future direction of configuration management practices at EUMETSAT.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the Configuration Management (CM) Competence Area, ensuring the availability of necessary resources, skills, and tools related to CM;
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine Configuration Management processes for technical departments, aligning with EUMETSAT policies and international standards;
- Provide CM support to technical departments, including regular Configuration Status Account Reports and performance metrics on CM processes;
- Facilitate configuration audits for contractors involved in new developments, ensuring compliance with CM standards;
- Organize and conduct regular CM training and awareness sessions;
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in managing Configuration Management processes and leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably in a technology-driven environment;
- Proven experience in leading large teams, developing talent, and ensuring the continuity of critical skills;
- Expertise in defining and implementing Configuration Management policies and procedures;
- Experience in managing change control boards;
- Strong skills in process modeling, problem analysis, and monitoring;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and customer service.
Qualifications
- A university degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, ideally in Aerospace or Information Technology.
